Last week, I had an exciting moment at work where I applied a concept from my Accelerating Learning and Development class – fighting the trap of agreement.
I was in a team discussion to choose a topic for an important client presentation. The first idea proposed was agreed upon quickly. After some time, I asked what could we be missing and are there other ideas we haven’t explored? Someone chimed in with a different perspective, and this led to some fruitful discussion.
We ultimately stuck with the original choice, but resisting the trap of agreement led to some (hopefully) positive adjustments.
